The Project Undercurrent: a diagnostic for project sponsors and leaders.

Your project is moving.

But something doesn't feel right.

Twelve statements, about five minutes.

Put a name to what's been bothering you.

Complimentary. No 'scores', no judgement on your team.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Status is green, but nothing seems finished.

  • Decisions you thought were closed keep coming back.

  • People agree in the meeting, then do something different afterwards.

  • The same risks sit on the log for weeks.

  • Your best people are doing the project on top of their day job.

  • You’re saying “on track, with some pressure”, and privately you’re less sure.

Perhaps ... you can't necessarily prove there's a problem. You can just feel it.

The Project Undercurrent helps you put a name on it.

What you get

Alignment Action Accountability

Places to look, questions to ask

  • Your result on screen, straight away. One of six patterns, what you might be seeing, and three questions to take into your next conversation.

  • Your full result by email. Where to look first, what it costs if it's left unchecked, and a five-minute reflection.

  • Nothing else, unless you opt in.

  • Until 22 November 2026 I'm also offering a complimentary 60-minute session to walk through your result with you, capped at two a week.

Where is your team right now?

The Momentum Value Model describes how project teams typically behave under pressure. Mostly teams, don't sit neatly on one rung.

Teams building project momentum can struggle

Collaborative teams are capable, proactive and able to work across boundaries. This is where project momentum becomes a delivery advantage.

Accountable teams take ownership, acting without waiting to be told, and looking beyond the task immediately in front of them. The team is starting to improve how the work gets done.

Cooperative teams complete tasks and generally support the effort. However, cooperation alone will not make the kind of difference leaders want.

The team may await direction struggle to understand their role, lose sight of how the work fits together, or avoid contributing because the ask feels ambiguous or overwhelming.

Resisting teams may question the change, create workarounds, delay contribution, back-channel decisions or form competing interpretations of the programme’s purpose.

If your result shows the leadership team needs to get honest about what the project will cost the business to absorb, the next step is Project Delivery Reset: a focused session to establish what's actually true, sequence what matters and agree how you'll lead it.

I've seen what happens when the real problem stays hidden.

Meet Leonie McCarthy

I work alongside retail and wholesale leaders on system projects.

In my experience, effort is rarely the problem: people work incredibly hard. What gets in the way are the conditions around the work and the project structures we create.

We're software agnostic. Our allegiance is to your business outcome.

When a project needs more than a conversation, that's what Project Delivery Reset is for.
